New diocesan micro-site for Education and Church Schools goes live

A new Education micro-site has been launched on the diocesan website bringing together news and information from the Diocesan Education Team and the 249 church schools which it serves.

The new site features a number of innovative features including an interactive schools map with the location of every church  school in the diocese, linked to a comprehensive online directory.

The home page begins with a welcome video introduced by Bishop Nick Baines emphasising  the importance and scope of Education in the work of the diocese. “Education is a massively important part of the work of the diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales”, explains Bishop Nick in the video.

VideoThe new Education micro-site aims to provide a platform for effective communication between the Education Team and teachers, governors and churches.

Richard Noake, new Diocesan Director of Education says in a letter to schools, “Communications is a key area that we have to get right and we see our website as being instrumental in providing a platform for us to communicate effectively with all 249 Church schools and the many partners and stakeholders with whom we work.

“It is therefore with great pleasure …  that I can inform you that West Yorkshire & the Dales Education has secured a central presence on the new diocesan website and that our home page and additional key pages are now live .”

The new webpages also invites browsers to read the latest news stories from church schools. Pioneering savings clubs, Teachers in Tanzania, Children encouraging medical teams in Sierra Leone, and stories of churches working with schools,  are among some of the recent news items from teachers and pupils.
