Leeds Development Education Centre (who work with schools in West Yorkshire on sustainable world learning) has awarded nine schools, including three Church of England schools, with a certificate for leading the way in Global Learning.
Allerton CE Primary, Kirkstall St Stephens Primary and Horbury Bridge CE Academy have all written a Global Learning Charter and facilitated their students to lead peer education workshops on Fairtrade, waste and garment workers.
Global Fairness project co-ordinator, Hannah Langdana, says, “The Global Learning Charter gives schools the opportunity to spell out their commitment to Global Learning and involve the students in deciding how they want to implement it across the school”.
