Prayer

There is no special way to pray. No special position to be in.
You can pray with others or alone. You can pray in church, at work or on the bus.
Anybody can pray, anytime, anywhere. God is always listening.

Why pray?

At key moments and when life is tough, people often pray.

God loves us. His motive in making us was love. His greatest longing is that we should get to know him; come to love him and enjoy his company.
When we talk or listen to God, this is prayer.

God has shown us what he is like - in the Bible, and particularly in Jesus. Jesus prayed a lot. Seeing this, his followers asked him to teach them how to pray.
God also gives his Holy Spirit to help us pray. When we don't know what or how to pray.

 

Ways to pray

In some ways, prayer is very easy: simply talk to God about the things around you, or going on inside you. But it is also useful to discover how others pray, and to be encouraged.
Learn to Pray is based on advice in a book for children, but it makes a lot of sense at any age!

Jesus taught his disciples to pray using this prayer:
